Testimonials from Residents of El Dorado Ranch

Homeowners at our solar community “Palos Verdes Sur”

“We love living at El Dorado Ranch! The weather is wonderful, but most of all we love the Mexican people. They are so friendly and helpful. We feel welcomed everywhere we go at El Dorado and San Felipe. We also feel that Pat Butler has made a great place to live and we have confidence that he will continue to strive to make El Dorado a success. We like the security provided by El Dorado and feel that it is a safe environment. It is like evrywhere else, you must use comon sense and take precautions, but it is much safer than many areas of the United States! As far as traveling into Mexico, we have never had any problems. There again, we obey the laws and have much respect for the authorities. We even enjoy going through the miltary check point -we know they are doing their job to make Mexico a safe place to live.”

"Four years ago while visiting San Felipe with friends we fell in love with the unspoiled beauty and life style being enjoyed by so many people at El Dorado Ranch. That same weekend, we purchased a golf course lot and now enjoy breath taking sun-downs and sunsets overlooking the Sea of Cortez. The sheer ambiance of smog free pristine beaches only two hours from the Mexicali border make this the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors, meet wonderful people, and in general enjoy San Felipe or as we like to refer to it “Paradise”."

"Retired in Baja???? - Who would have thought! When we were in our mid-50’s and retirement got close, we made the decision to spend the winter months in a more moderate climate than the San Francisco Bay Area and travel around the country in our RV the majority of the remaining months scouting the U.S.

We had basically decided on South Texas when Sandy went to a local flea market and noticed the El Dorado Ranch booth. Interested, she picked up some brochures and was behind a lady who was talking with the real estate agent about how she wanted to move to Mexico for the weather and lower cost of living. She overheard the lady say ‘I’m 92 and need to get out of this high cost of living area and into some warmer weather.'

WELL!!!!!, Sandy thought, if this 92 year old lady has no reservations about Mexico, why should we and there it started. We booked a date with the real estate agent, drove down in our RV on very bumpy roads to El Dorado Ranch in San Felipe, and purchased our ‘island’ lot which had been set up for an RV by the previous owner. After our purchase, we spent a week at the old El Dorado RV park by the beach and returned to California anxious to return and enjoy the weather and everything else Baja had to offer which was a lot. Buyer’s remorse some other RV’ers asked us?????? Certainly not - only wished we had known about it sooner. Where else can you have your own island lot with outside bar, Baja room, horseshoe pits, volleyball court, etc. for a reasonable cost and low taxes.

We were quite shocked at the number of Americans and Canadians who inhabited the San Felipe area, but even more shocked at the number of our friends who were intimidated by Mexico, based solely on what the new media reported regarding the drug cartels. We state that there are certain areas in the Bay Area that we would not venture into because of the drug trafficking and violence and why should Mexico be any different. Some of our friends have taken the step to ‘cross over into Mexico’ and could not have been more surprised and all loved it. The trip to San Felipe is very safe and great to travel now with the upgraded road system."

“Here on the Ranch, we have nice lot sizes that allow us to entertain outside without bothering our neighbors and enjoy the wonderful weather... Very safe, highway 5 is the only way in and out to San Felipe... we have Marines, Air Force, Navy, and Police. Bad guys would be nuts to try anything here...they couldn't get away without being caught... and we've been here and traveling the roads for nearly 5 years... never a problem. Please don't listen to the news people...it is safe in the Baja, and always safe in San Felipe...come visit us soon...”

“To be safe means that we do not worry about anyone, because the Mexican people take such good care of us US people... Baja is where I want to live from now on...”

“It is a well maintained development. I like the sense of comunity here. The HOA is very responsive to issues and concerns. I have use of the pool and beach. We make numerous trips to the States and have never had any problems at the border or in Mexicali. Even when traveling after dark.”

“Safety, convenience, CC&R's and the lobbying power of the HOA. Very safe. In 5 years here, I've never lost a tool or anything. Security is much more efficient and friendly now... Safer than the US. My wife drives to Yuma and back by herself and I'm not worried about her safety.”

"Who would have thought it? My wife and I live in MEXICO, the Baja Region just two hours from the U.S.A. Our friends in America said don’t even visit there, you will DIE. Thank God they were very, very wrong. We’ve never felt more alive!

We live on the El Dorado Ranch in San Felipe, Baja, Mexico. The ranch is a fully gated community on The Sea of Cortez. A beautiful place to golf and live. The view from the 16th green is a million dollar view. I’ve never seen better and I have played golf all over the world. We travel all over San Felipe, even at night, with no worries about our safety. We were nervous, of course, to come here after all the bad publicity in the U.S.A. in the press and media about Mexico. We are not fools, but we decided to make our own decision and not be lead by our government, which has lead us down the wrong path a time or two in the past. But still we say God bless America. Quite honestly, after living in Florida for the past ten years, and worrying about our safety in Orlando on our occasional visits there, by comparison, San Felipe is an oasis of calm affordable living.

The building process has been trouble free thanks to our Mexican builder and architect Fidel Escutia and his team of tireless workers.

The desert golf course is challenging. Every hole has a view of The Sea of Cortez, distracting yet beautiful.

The Mexican government is investing heavily trying to improve the tourist trade in the whole of Baja. We and all of the expats living here hope that they are successful. The road from the Calexico border crossing to San Felipe is fast, good, and straight. It is patrolled by Police, Army, and a free breakdown service, just to make tourists feel safe, and it works! The journey here is safe even with out the patrols, but the breakdown service is a great bonus and the police and Army gives a definite boost to the feel of security.

In conclusion, take a couple of weeks break and visit San Felipe. You won’t regret it. Who knows? We may become neighbors and amigos for life!"

Villa Owner and Resident of La Ventana del Mar

"It a totally stress-free environment... the only stress is worrying about your golf score or deciding on what leisurely activity you're going to have fun with next. You don't hear sirens, airplanes or heavy traffic... the only sounds you hear are water splashing at the pool, golf balls and tennis balls being hit, birds singing, and people laughing and having fun."

Mountainside Homeowners

“Although we live in paradise, one of our greatest treats is when our grandchildren visit and we see them playing safely on our beach with its calm shallow water of the Sea of Cortez. And at low tide the fun they have investigating the tidal pools, shelling and of course our daily practice of clamming”

Michael & Sylvia Schwartz
Mountainside Homeowners in the area that the residents call—The "Beverly Hills“

Sylvia- “As well as living in paradise one can live very comfortably on Social Security and Enjoy Life!”
Michael- “We have made more friends on El Dorado Ranch in the first six months of living here than the previous 25 years of living and raising a family in Sacramento. Come join us.”

Susie Scott
Fairway Villa Owner & Resident of La Ventana del Mar

“I travel down from Las Vegas to San Felipe to my villa in La Ventana del Mar 4 times a year and stay for 2 months at a time. I’m never concerned about driving alone through Baja and feel very safe while living on El Dorado Ranch. Shopping is close our urgent care center is on the property and the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff and security people is so reassuring.”

“Coming from the Northwest what attracted us to El Dorado Ranch was the weather and the affordable living. What keeps us here is just that and the relaxed lifestyle, the fishing, the near organic foods and of course the wonderful people.”
